Is The Jewish Press Competing With Time Magazine For Shock Value?

Letter To The Editor - The Jewish Press

Just as Time Magazine played into the hands of Israel’s enemies by lying about Israel’s desire for peace, so The Jewish Press, Israel’s long-time defender, shocked its readers by headlining a JTA article by Ron Kampeas in the Sept. 17 edition: U.S. JEWISH RIGHT RESIGNED TO POSSIBLE FREEZE EXTENSION.

The article is filled with quotes from Mort Klein, president of the ZOA, who we’re told “is chagrined over the fact that there is little his or other U.S. Jewish organizations can do.” Aaron Troodler, a spokesman for the National Council of Young Israel, a person whose name I have never heard before, spoke of NCYI’s strong attachment to the communities of Judea and Samaria, and would “consider an extension of the West Bank construction freeze regrettable.”

So “chagrin” and “regret” are the words of the so-called “U.S. Jewish Right.”

This is unacceptable. AMERICANS FOR A SAFE ISRAEL/AFSI, which has been in existence for 35 years, defending a whole Israel, defines “Right” as being correct – and ERECT – standing straight and tall in our belief in Israel’s biblical, historical, and legal entitlement to ALL the land of Israel. We do not believe in compromise, negotiation, appeasement, and pretense. We know the present “peace process”, overseen by the arm-twisting Obama team, is doomed to failure, and that more “sacrifices for peace” on the part of the Israelis just continue to weaken and endanger Israel as they strengthen the enemy.

The next time the Jewish Press or the JTA or any other media outlet wishes to know what the “U.S. Jewish Right” is “resigned” to in regard to Israel’s very existence and safety, we ask that they contact us. Then they will get a true response that is bears no resemblance to the “chagrin” and “regret” of those who call themselves ‘right’, but end up being wrong.
