set aside, and after four and a half years, the Jerusalem Magistrates Court has now convicted ten Arutz-7 directors and staff of broadcasting without a license. Sentences -- a maximum of three years in prison and three million shekel fines -- will be handed down shortly.Shamefully, Sharon's cabinet has compounded the shameful persecution of Arutz-7 by authorizing passage of legislation to impose stiff fines and prison sentences on those who advertise on unlicensed radio stations. To Israel's disgrace, as Steven Plaut notes, "pure leftist hegemony over Israel's media" has now been restored.
On FrontpageMagazine.com David Bedein reports that Dennis Ross, for the eight years of the Clinton administration special Middle East coordinator and now director of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy (as well has head of the Jewish People Policy Planning Institute of the Jewish Agency), has been shepherding four leaders of Fatah's Tanzim around Washington, bringing them to Congressmen and Jewish organizations. Incredibly Ross is trying to pass these terrorists off as a "moderating influence." In fact, Bedein points out, the Tanzim have taken "credit" for the vast majority of the 18,000 Arab terror attacks that have been inflicted on Israel over the past three years, claiming the lives of 897 men, women and children and the four Tanzim in Ross's entourage directed that murder campaign.
Have the Tanzim, as Ross claims, had a change of heart? Even as he was making the rounds with their leaders, the Fatah Tanzim were taking credit for a drive-by attack north of Jerusalem. Actually they were apologizing for it -- by mistake they had shot a Palestinian Arab driving a stolen Israeli vehicle (the terrorists were misled by the Israeli license plates). The Tanzim explained they had wanted to shoot a Jew.
