AFSI was founded in 1970 as an American counterpart to the Land of Israel Movement, which asserted Israel’s right—historic, religious and legal-- to the territories won in the 1967 war, when Israel, openly threatened with imminent extinction by her Arab neighbors, turned the tables in six unforgettable days. AFSI has argued consistently that a strong territorially defensible Israel is essential to U.S. security interests in the region and that “land for peace” is a delusional policy.
        At this time AFSI is a major political support group for the Jewish communities of Judea, Samaria and the Golan. Jerusalem and Hebron are the ancient capitals of the Jewish people, whose faith was born in ancient Israel. AFSI supports the right of Israelis, free from outside interference, to live, thrive and expand their communities in all of the Land of Israel.

Herbert Zweibon Z'L, the founder of Americans For A Safe Israel (AFSI), a major political support group for the Jewish communities of Judea, Samaria and the Golan, passed away in New York after a brief illness on Thursday January 20th, at age 84.
